1. Customers & Projects
Your company has customers. You do projects for them. Projects might be fixed price or they might be hourly. They might be fixed in scope or they might be ongoing. You might have internal non-billable projects. Whatever your mix of customers and projects, they need to be defined in a database in order for you to manage time charges, billings and cash receipts. Below is a sample dialog used to edit customer information:
Projects are edited in a screen similar to the following. Project types include Fixed Price, Hourly Open, Hourly Limit, and Hourly Estimate. Project statuses include Proposed, Active and Closed. Proposed projects have not yet been approved by customers. Active projects have been approved and therefore are under development. Closed projects have been completed and no longer accept time charges. Note that only projects with no time charges against them can be deleted.
